The India Poker Legend follows hot on the heels of the success of India Poker Open, a tournament featuring one of the biggest prize pools in the history of Indian poker tournaments. With both tournaments taking place this year, the India Poker Legend will be India’s second biggest poker tournament in 2011.

India Poker Legend is a revamped version of India Poker Open, which was held at Goa, on Casino Carnival on the River. Owing to differences between the tournament organizer and the India Amateur Poker League, the venue and name of the event were changed. According to the organizers, the change of location will do good to the tournament.

The poker fest is being conducted with the aim of bringing together all the poker enthusiasts from across India. The tournament will give them the chance to test their skills against some of the best in the Indian poker circuit. They also get to play for a prize pool of INR 300,000. The first two events scheduled to take place are – a No-Limit Hold’em Re-buy with a buy-in of INR 5,000 and No Limit Hold’em Freezeout with an INR 10,000 buy-in. The third too is a No Limit Hold’em Freezeout, with a buy-in of INR 2,300. The last event will be a Bounty and Re-buy event with INR 12,000 buy-in.

The organizers will provide players with complimentary accommodation for 2 nights, as an early bird prize if they pay before 10th August. The stay will be at the Taj Vivanta hotel. Players can win a seat to the Main Event by participating in the offline satellites that will be held at Casino Royale. These will be conducted every weekend leading to the India Poker Legend Main Event.

According to the organizers, the Indian poker market is growing quite fast. If it continues to do so, India could become one of Asian Poker Circuit’s regular stops. This means that in a year’s time, a few international tournaments could make their way to the country. The organizers are in discussions with several international poker brands to bring them to India.
